The United States on Thursday doubled the bounty for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, saying it will pay up to $50 million for information that leads to his arrest. President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the increase, calling Maduro a threat to U.S. national security. Bondi alleged that Maduro works with drug-trafficking organizations including Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel and Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua to move narcotics into the United States. She said U.S. agencies have already seized more than $700 million in assets linked to the Venezuelan leader. The new figure, up from a $25 million offer, is among the largest rewards ever posted for a sitting head of state. Venezuela’s information ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
