Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello has reported a series of thwarted terrorist operations involving the seizure of explosive materials in the northeastern city of Maturín and the state of Monagas, as well as in Anzoátegui. Cabello accused the Venezuelan far-right opposition, including figures such as María Corina Machado and Iván Simonovis, of orchestrating these plots with alleged support from U.S. imperialism. He highlighted the involvement of narco-paramilitary groups and criminal bands collaborating with extremist sectors to destabilize the country. Venezuelan security forces remain actively deployed following these disruptions. Additionally, Cabello accused U.S. Ambassador John McNamara of conspiring against Venezuela and Colombian President Gustavo Petro from Colombia. The Venezuelan government, including President Nicolás Maduro and other officials such as Vice President Delcy Rodríguez and Foreign Minister Yván Gil, have condemned these plans and emphasized the country's security. Concurrently, Venezuela has been commemorating the 99th anniversary of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, with Maduro and other officials honoring his legacy and holding meetings with Cuban delegations. The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America also celebrated Castro's birthday, underscoring his enduring influence on regional leftist movements.
