A widely cited leak from Dealabs insider Billbil-kun indicates that Asus and Microsoft plan to ship their first Xbox-branded handheld PCs, the ROG Xbox Ally and higher-spec ROG Xbox Ally X, on 16 October 2025. Although the date has not been confirmed by either company, Billbil-kun has a strong record of accurately disclosing launch timetables and retail information. The same source says pre-orders will open on 20 August, coinciding with Microsoft’s showcase at Gamescom in Cologne. List prices are reportedly set at €599 for the base Ally and €899 for the Ally X, with availability expected through major retailers rather than limited to the Xbox or Asus online stores. According to earlier product disclosures, the standard Ally is built around an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. The Ally X upgrades to a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Both 7-inch Windows 11 devices feature a full-screen Xbox interface, access to multiple PC game stores and support for Xbox Play Anywhere titles. Microsoft has long signalled interest in mobile Xbox hardware but has shifted toward third-party partnerships rather than an in-house unit. If confirmed at Gamescom, the ROG Xbox Ally line would give the company its first dedicated handheld presence ahead of the 2025 holiday season.
