Blizzard Entertainment used Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live showcase to reveal “Midnight,” the next expansion for its flagship massively multiplayer game, World of Warcraft. The studio said the expansion will launch in 2026 and is available for pre-order on PC through Battle.net. Set against a renewed assault by the Void on the elven homeland of Quel’Thalas, Midnight takes players from a re-imagined Silvermoon City through four zones that include a refreshed Zul’Aman, the fungal jungle of Harandar, and the gravity-warped wastes of Voidstorm. The campaign opens with the defense of the Sunwell and features three raids at launch—The Voidspire, The Dreamrift and March on Quel’danas—alongside eight dungeons and seven smaller ‘Delves.’ Gameplay additions include the Haranir, a bioluminescent allied race available to both factions, and a ranged Devourer specialization for Demon Hunters that channels Void energy. A new opt-in world-hunt system called PREY allows players to track powerful targets for rewards, while quality-of-life updates overhaul combat assists, user interface elements and transmog options. For the first time in the game’s 20-year history, World of Warcraft will offer fully customizable player housing. Blizzard said the system will let up to about 50 players share neighborhoods, decorate interiors with dyeable furniture and unlock additional rooms through progression. The feature underscores a broader effort to retain veteran users and attract lapsed players ahead of the second chapter in the three-part Worldsoul Saga.
