IGN has published the first extended gameplay footage of "Mafia: The Old Country," a prequel and fourth mainline installment in the long-running crime-action franchise. The nine-minute video, drawn from Chapter 5’s Villa section, inaugurates the outlet’s month-long “Mafia Mondays” coverage, which will feature additional previews each week in July. Developer Hangar 13 and publisher 2K Games plan to release the title on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Aug. 8 at a launch price of $50 (about €49.99). In interviews accompanying the footage, game director Alex Cox, Hangar 13 president Nick Baynes and 2K president David Ismailer said the lower-than-usual price reflects a return to the series’ tighter, narrative-driven structure and linear design. IGN said next Monday’s instalment will include a hands-on report based on three hours of play, underscoring the publication’s effort to build early momentum for one of the summer’s most anticipated releases.
