Clinton Backs Nobel Nomination for Trump if He Brokers Ukraine Peace
Former U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton said on the “Raging Moderates” podcast released 15 August that she would nominate President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if he successfully delivers a comprehensive peace agreement to end Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Clinton stressed the deal must include an immediate cease-fire, the withdrawal of Russian forces and no territorial concessions by Kyiv. “If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him,” she said, adding that her goal is to avoid any “capitulation to Putin.” Her comments come as Trump travels to Anchorage, Alaska, for his first in-person meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin since 2019. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv is prepared to work with Washington on a “lasting peace” but reiterated that Ukraine will not surrender territory. Trading on prediction platform Kalshi puts Trump’s chance of receiving the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize at about 12%, compared with 25% for Russian opposition figure Yulia Navalnaya.
