Leavitt claimed “much of the left-wing media has been actively rooting against the President of the United States and the pursuit of peace,” adding that some outlets “continue to try to actively undermine the President and sabotage efforts towards peace.” Her remarks focused on reporting that followed Trump’s 15 Aug summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, which some commentators labelled a failure shortly after it concluded. The spokeswoman offered no new details on the substance of the Alaska meeting or the status of negotiations with Kyiv and Moscow, but insisted that the administration remains committed to pursuing a negotiated settlement and would continue to counter what she called inaccurate portrayals of its diplomatic efforts.
