Google has confirmed it will hold its next “Made by Google” hardware showcase in New York on 20 August. Leaked promotional videos and high-resolution renders published this week suggest the company will unveil at least four Pixel 10 handsets, including a new Pro Fold variant, alongside a fourth-generation Pixel Watch and updated Pixel Buds. The images indicate the base Pixel 10 will gain a dedicated telephoto camera for the first time, while the Pro models are expected to ship with brighter LTPO OLED displays, larger batteries and Google’s 3-nanometre Tensor G5 processor. Apple is preparing its own autumn lineup, with multiple industry and carrier sources pointing to a 9 September event for the iPhone 17 family. Documents shared by a German carrier indicate pre-orders could open on 12 September, with retail sales starting 19 September. The new range is said to comprise four models—iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max—with the Pro handsets moving to a base 256 GB of storage, adopting slimmer designs and facing a price increase of about US$50. Separately, supply-chain leaks claim the iPhone 17 Pro will relocate its antennas around the camera module, while the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air may use a binned A19 Pro chip featuring a five-core GPU. Looking further ahead, component-industry reports indicate Samsung is preparing to supply camera sensors for Apple’s 2026-bound iPhone 18 as part of Apple’s broader effort to localise more hardware production in the United States. The successive launches underscore an increasingly competitive late-summer smartphone cycle, with Google’s August unveiling set to be followed by Apple’s flagship event less than a month later.
