Apple is preparing to unveil its next-generation smartphones on 9 Sept., according to carrier schedules and multiple industry reports. Pre-orders are expected to open on 12–13 Sept., with deliveries and in-store sales slated for 19 Sept. The event is likely to be streamed from Apple Park, continuing the format the company has used since 2020. The iPhone 17 family is set to include four devices: the standard iPhone 17, an all-new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, and the flagship iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. All models are tipped to adopt Apple’s A19 processor and a 24-megapixel front camera, while ProMotion 120-Hz displays are expected to reach the non-Pro handsets for the first time. Leaks suggest the 5.5-mm-thick iPhone 17 Air will replace the current Plus edition, pairing a single 48-MP rear camera with a binned A19 Pro chip to conserve power and manage heat. The Pro models are set to gain a horizontal camera bar housing three 48-MP sensors and a redesigned antenna system that wraps around the camera module, a change aimed at improving 5G and Wi-Fi 7 performance. Both Pro handsets should carry the full-power A19 Pro chip, 12 GB of RAM and an anti-reflective display coating. Price increases appear likely. In the United States, the iPhone 17 is expected to start at $799, the 17 Air at about $949, the 17 Pro at $1,049 and the 17 Pro Max at $1,249—roughly $50 more than last year’s comparable models, though base storage on the Pro pair is rumored to double to 256 GB. In India, local distributors are preparing for an entry price of roughly ₹145,990 for the Pro variant. Retailers in Europe have already begun clearing inventory of earlier iPhones ahead of the launch, with the iPhone 14 Plus dipping below €400 and the iPhone 15 Plus reaching €558, signalling the usual pre-event reshuffle in Apple’s sales channels.
