A High Court in Eldoret has sentenced two police officers, Emmanuel Barasa Wafula and Godwine Wekesa Sirengo, to 35 years in prison each for the murder of Dennis Lusava in 2020. Lusava, a 31-year-old man, was arrested at Mbururu Police Station in Kakamega County for failing to wear a face mask. The officers handcuffed and tortured him with electric cables, leading to his death. Following the murder, they attempted to cover up the crime by dumping Lusava's body in the River Nzoia. The court ruling marks the conclusion of the case five years after the incident.
