British Transport Police said two 16-year-old boys were pronounced dead after being hit by a train near Poynton railway station in Cheshire at about 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, 3 July. The force confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious and that a file will be prepared for the coroner. Rail services on the line were suspended to allow emergency access, disrupting Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry and Northern trains until around 6 a.m. Friday.
