Extraordinary. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Welsh Senedd elections next May, where Labour has never won less than 43% of the seats (currently at 50%) sets the stage for a leadership challenge to Starmer. They’re projected to lose badly to Reform atm. https://t.co/h6H4JLp0n5

Reform UK strengthened its foothold in local government by winning two council by-elections from Labour and successfully defending a seat for the first time. The party took Hednesford Green Heath in Cannock Chase with 51.5% of the vote and captured Llangennech in Carmarthenshire on 43.1%, while retaining Easington & Shotton in County Durham on 46.7%. The results underline Reform’s growing presence in England and Wales: since the May 2025 local elections, it has secured 28 of the 81 council by-election seats contested, a net gain of 24. Over the same period Labour has taken eight seats—a net loss of 18—while the Conservatives have 11 (down six) and the Liberal Democrats 23 (up five).
