Tesla sold 7,891 cars in the United Kingdom in June, a 12% increase from a year earlier, according to data from research group New AutoMotive. The jump coincided with the start of deliveries of a refreshed Model Y, the U.S. automaker’s best-selling model in Britain. Across the broader market, UK new-car registrations climbed 12.8% to 187,655 units in June, while battery-electric vehicle sales surged 45.5%. Separate preliminary figures from industry body SMMT pointed to a similar picture, showing a 6.8% rise in overall registrations and 39.1% growth in battery-electric demand to 47,351 units. Despite the June rebound, Tesla’s UK sales remain almost 2% lower for the year to date. Chinese rival BYD sold 2,498 cars in June, nearly four times its tally a year earlier, and U.S. peer Ford recorded the fastest growth among major brands, with first-half EV sales more than quadrupling.
