Media journalist Oliver Darcy is extending his year-old Status newsletter into audio and video with the launch of “Power Lines,” a weekly podcast and videocast scheduled to debut on 11 July. Darcy will co-host the program with fellow former CNN reporter Jon Passantino, delivering reporting and analysis on the media industry every Friday. The show is being produced by Chris Corcoran’s In The Arena Studios, with ad sales handled by Gemini XIII. Darcy said the new format is aimed at reaching wider audiences on social-media platforms and providing additional depth to Status, which has grown to roughly 85,000 paid and free subscribers since its August 2024 start. Darcy, who has not taken outside investment for the venture, signalled further expansion opportunities including live events and additional reporters, but said growth would be pursued “organically.”
