Toronto police have arrested a 35-year-old city resident in connection with the June 4 assault of a 62-year-old woman in High Park, a popular west-end green space. Investigators say the victim was approached from behind at about 10:40 p.m., dragged into a wooded area and sexually assaulted before managing to escape and alert passers-by, prompting a public safety alert and heightened patrols in the park. The suspect, identified as Cortny Henry, was taken into custody on Wednesday and faces seven charges, including sexual assault causing bodily harm, overcoming resistance by choking, forcible confinement and failing to comply with probation. He appeared in bail court Thursday morning. Detectives believe additional victims may exist and are urging anyone with information to contact the Sex Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers.
