Peel Regional Police have charged five people in connection with a series of violent street robberies in Brampton that investigators say deliberately targeted members of the South Asian and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. The latest round of arrests adds four suspects to an earlier apprehension, bringing the total accused to five. Police allege the group used violence to steal cash, mobile phones and other personal property from victims in multiple incidents across the city. The suspects face several counts, including robbery, assault with a weapon and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and have appealed for additional witnesses or victims to come forward.
