Evan Rachel Wood says she 'was not asked to come back' for the 'Practical Magic' sequel starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, though she 'would have happily rejoined my sisters.' https://t.co/puPOHrwh5D
Evan Rachel Wood said she will not appear in “Practical Magic 2,” explaining on social-media posts that Warner Bros. did not invite her to reprise the role of Kylie Owens despite her offer to participate “even if it was one scene or one line.” The actress added that the studio intends to recast the part, calling the decision beyond her control and expressing regret to fans of the 1998 cult film. The sequel, currently in production and scheduled for theatrical release on Sept. 18, 2026, reunites original stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman and is directed by Susanne Bier. Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the first movie, is scripting the follow-up with Georgia Pritchett, while Denise Di Novi returns as producer. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest are set to reprise their roles as the Owens family aunts. New additions to the cast include Joey King—reportedly playing one of Sally Owens’s daughters—along with Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod, further indicating that Wood’s former character will be portrayed by a different actor.
