President Boric Launches 27-Kilometer Santiago Metro Line 9 From Puente Cal y Canto to Plaza de Puente Alto, Operations by 2030

President Gabriel Boric officially inaugurated the construction of the new Line 9 of the Santiago Metro, marking a key development for the southern sector of the city. The project, which began in La Pintana, will span 27 kilometers, connecting Puente Cal y Canto station in central Santiago to Plaza de Puente Alto. The new metro line is expected to start operations by 2030 and aims to improve connectivity between La Pintana and the city center. The inauguration coincided with the delivery of the first stage of a housing project in La Pintana. Meanwhile, security issues remain a topic of political discussion, with Minister Cordero being interpellated on the matter. Additionally, protests were reported in Peñalolén earlier in the day.
