Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Hidalgo Governor Julio Menchaca recently inspected the construction progress of the Mexico City-Pachuca train project. The railway expansion, which has reached approximately 4% completion, is expected to cost 47 billion pesos and aims to connect Mexico City with Pachuca in about 75 minutes. Originally planned for completion in October 2026, the project timeline has been extended, with officials now targeting the first half of 2027 for completion. The train system will be electric and will link the capital of Hidalgo with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), Lechería, Buenavista, and Mexico City. Sheinbaum noted that the right of way has been mostly secured, which should accelerate construction progress in the coming months. She also highlighted that Hidalgo will benefit from three major train lines: CDMX-Querétaro, CDMX-Pachuca, and Querétaro-Irapuato, potentially boosting regional connectivity.
