Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced plans to hold a citizen survey regarding a proposed electoral reform to be drafted by Pablo Gómez and presented to Congress. In diplomatic developments, Sheinbaum confirmed a meeting next week with Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo, marking their first in-person encounter after prior telephone communications. The meeting will take place in Flores, Petén, Guatemala, and will also involve discussions with Belize's Prime Minister John Briceño to address bilateral interests. Separately, Sheinbaum supervised the construction progress of the Mexico City-Pachuca train project, which has reached 4% completion. The project, with an investment of 47 billion pesos, aims to reduce travel time between the two capitals to one hour and 15 minutes and is expected to be completed by the first half of 2027. Sheinbaum noted that almost all right-of-way issues have been resolved, anticipating faster progress in the coming months.
