The fighter jet tracked the Philippine plane at a lateral distance of approximately 500 feet and passed directly overhead at about 200 feet, maintaining this unsafe proximity for over 20 minutes. This aerial encounter occurred days after two Chinese vessels collided while attempting to intercept a Philippine patrol ship in the same area. The Philippine Coast Guard confirmed the interception, describing the Chinese maneuvers as dangerous.
