China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced a strategic plan to encourage the smart planning and expansion of high-power electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the country. The initiative aims to establish over 100,000 high-power charging stations nationwide by the end of 2027. The plan includes optimizing the national network layout of charging facilities to create a system characterized by a rational layout, upgraded quality, and advanced technology. The NDRC, together with four other government departments, issued a notice detailing the construction of these facilities, emphasizing the integration of advanced grid construction, local photovoltaic (PV) energy, and energy storage systems (ESS). The plan also calls for the adoption of a high-power standard compatible with high-voltage EV platforms for both cars and trucks, as well as the localization of high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) modules and control chips. This announcement has positively influenced Chinese charging pile and power sector stocks amid peak summer demand. Separately, EnergyVision secured a major contract to supply charging stations for Belgium’s National Railway Company (NMBS), reflecting growing international interest in EV infrastructure development.
