Pakistan on 2 Aug inducted the Chinese-built Z-10ME attack helicopter into Army Aviation at a ceremony led by Chief of Army Staff Gen. Asim Munir. The all-weather aircraft carries advanced radar, electronic-warfare suites and precision-strike weapons, giving ground forces a new option for day-and-night operations. Chinese state media said the hand-over represents the first overseas sale of the Z-10 series, underscoring Beijing’s push to expand its defence exports. The acquisition deepens Pakistan’s reliance on Chinese hardware days after a Reuters investigation detailed how a Chinese-supplied PL-15 missile fired from a J-10C fighter downed at least one Indian Rafale during a 7 May dogfight that involved an estimated 110 aircraft. Pakistani officials told Reuters the missile was launched from roughly 200 km—well beyond the 150 km range India had assumed—while Indian officials blamed an intelligence lapse for the loss. Delhi has not publicly acknowledged the shoot-down. Analysts say the helicopter induction, combined with the May engagement, highlights Pakistan’s growing confidence in Chinese weapons and Beijing’s willingness to showcase them in high-profile regional confrontations. The episode has already prompted Indonesia and other prospective buyers to review Chinese systems, according to the Reuters report.
The downing of an Indian #Rafale was due to an Indian intelligence failure underestimating the range of #Pakistan’s Chinese-made PL-15 missile, which struck from approximately 200 km, far beyond the expected 150 km range of its export variant. Read More: https://t.co/wAX95ehsd4
