Sony Group Chief Financial Officer Lin Tao said the company expects Bungie’s long-delayed shooter Marathon to launch within the current fiscal year, which ends on 31 March 2026. The title’s sales have been included in Sony’s latest earnings forecast, although Tao cautioned that the outlook does not amount to a formal release commitment; a more detailed update is planned for the autumn. Tao added that Bungie, acquired for $3.6 billion in 2022, is being more closely integrated into PlayStation Studios after initially operating as an "independent subsidiary." She described the studio’s autonomy as “getting lighter” following last year’s restructuring and said governance changes are progressing toward full assimilation into Sony’s first-party portfolio. Marathon was originally slated for a September 2023 debut but was delayed amid development setbacks, including art-asset controversies and design revisions. Tao said Sony does not currently anticipate cancelling the project, adding that any such outcome would require the company to reassess Bungie’s valuation.
