A California judge has granted Denise Richards a temporary domestic-violence restraining order against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, after the actress alleged years of physical abuse and death threats. The order, issued 16 July, requires Phypers to remain at least 100 yards from Richards, her home, workplace and vehicles, and to surrender any materials he allegedly took from her electronic devices. In court filings reviewed by multiple outlets, Richards, 54, detailed incidents in which Phypers, 52, allegedly choked and slapped her, slammed her head into fixtures, and threatened to kill her. She said the abuse caused at least three concussions and included a 2022 assault that left her with a black eye. Richards also told the court that Phypers keeps eight unregistered firearms and, during an early-July altercation, warned he would "blow everything up" if police intervened. The restraining order runs through 8 August, when the pair are due back in court. Phypers, who filed for divorce on 7 July citing irreconcilable differences, has not publicly responded to the allegations. The couple married in 2018.
