A 45-year-old Uber driver, Kevin Vo, has been arrested and charged with DUI resulting in death and reckless driving after a pedestrian was fatally struck near Circa Resort and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. According to an arrest report released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred around 10:20 p.m. on Aug. 8 at 1st Street and Ogden Avenue. Investigators say Vo parked his Cadillac Escalade while waiting for a fare and became involved in an argument with an unidentified man. As Vo attempted to leave, he reversed the SUV, hitting 56-year-old Matthew Bowen, who had stepped behind the vehicle. The Cadillac then moved forward, running over Bowen a second time before crashing into guard poles. Bowen was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. Police allege Vo showed signs of impairment and failed field-sobriety tests; a warrant was obtained for a blood draw and for footage from the vehicle’s dash camera. Vo remains in the Clark County Detention Center with bail set at $250,000. The unidentified man involved in the argument has not been located, and detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
