A 19-year-old woman from San Mateo drove her car onto the sidewalk outside a restaurant in downtown Burlingame at about 6:20 p.m. Friday, striking a cyclist before hitting two children, according to the Burlingame Police Department. A four-year-old boy died at the scene and a six-year-old girl was taken to Stanford Hospital with injuries that were not detailed. The driver remained at the location and is cooperating with investigators, police said. The North County Major Accident Investigation Team is assisting Burlingame officers in collecting video and witness statements. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident on the 1200 block of Donnelly Avenue to contact the department as the inquiry continues.
