Three men were killed and eight other people were wounded when gunfire erupted inside the Taste of the City Lounge in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the New York City Police Department said. Officers responding to multiple 911 calls found 11 people struck by bullets at the club on Franklin Avenue. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters that a dispute inside the crowded lounge escalated into a barrage of at least 36 shots fired by multiple shooters. A firearm was later recovered several blocks away near Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway, although investigators have not determined whether it was used in the attack. No suspects were in custody as of late morning, and detectives were reviewing surveillance video from inside and outside the venue. The victims range in age from 27 to 61. The eight survivors—five men and three women—were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. The club, which serves Caribbean-American food and hookah, was the scene of a non-fatal shooting in November 2024. Sunday’s violence comes amid what officials have described as a record-low year for shootings city-wide, an anomaly Tisch called “a terrible thing that happened this morning” as the investigation continues.
