Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Jhayco was arrested early Tuesday in Miami-Dade County after deputies said they found cocaine and cannabis in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to an arrest report and jail records. A deputy spotted a red Corvette travelling about 5 mph along Southwest 8th Street shortly before 3 a.m. and coming to a complete halt for more than a minute. The report says officers smelled a strong odor of cannabis and observed white powder on the 32-year-old singer’s pants and nose. A search of the car and his pockets allegedly uncovered roughly 14 grams of suspected cannabis and about 2 grams of suspected cocaine. Jhayco, whose legal name is Jesús Manuel Nieves Cortés, was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor possession of up to 20 grams of cannabis. Bond was set at $3,000, and court records indicate he could be released once the amount is posted. The Latin Grammy-winning performer is best known for hits such as “DÁKITI” and collaborations with Bad Bunny. His representatives have not commented on the arrest.
