The Trump family has quietly cut its ownership of World Liberty Financial, a decentralized-finance firm it helped launch last year, to about 40% from 60%, according to revised disclosure language on the company’s website reviewed by Forbes. The change, effected sometime over the past 11 days and carried out through the family’s vehicle DT Marks DEFI LLC, ends the Trumps’ majority position in the venture. Based on comparable market valuations for publicly traded stablecoin issuer Circle, the divestment could have generated roughly $190 million in proceeds, with about $135 million of that figure accruing to President Donald Trump, Forbes estimated. Neither the Trump Organization nor World Liberty Financial responded to requests for comment on the size, timing or counterparties of the transaction. The move comes as lawmakers intensify scrutiny of Trump’s crypto dealings. Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Connecticut Democrat, opened an inquiry in May into the president’s financial ties to the platform, which controls the WLFI token and recently introduced the USD1 stablecoin. Separately, Congress is debating the GENIUS Act, the first federal framework for stablecoin oversight, after the Senate passed the bill earlier this week.
