Social-media footage circulating early Thursday shows men identified as security guards or employees of Egypt’s diplomatic mission in New York City pulling several pro-Palestinian demonstrators through the building’s gate and striking them. The protesters had gathered outside the premises to demand that Cairo allow additional humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip, according to captions accompanying the videos. No injuries have been officially confirmed and the Egyptian Embassy had not responded to requests for comment as of mid-morning. New York City police also had not issued a public statement on whether an investigation is under way. Under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, host-country authorities may not enter embassy grounds without consent, complicating any potential law-enforcement response.
