A 32-year-old man was found dead in Pré du Moulin park in Pont-de-Metz, near Amiens in the Somme department of France. The victim had been brutally murdered, with his throat slit and his body disemboweled, reportedly positioned in the shape of a cross. The scene was described as horrific by Loïc Bulant, the mayor of Pont-de-Metz. An investigation was promptly launched following the discovery. On August 5, a 27-year-old suspect was arrested in the Amiens area and placed in custody on charges of assassination. The suspect has admitted to the killing but denies knowing the victim. His criminal record reportedly includes only minor traffic offenses. The autopsy was scheduled for August 5. The local community remains shocked by the violent nature of the crime.
