French rider Pauline Ferrand-Prévot seized control of the 2025 Tour de France Femmes on Saturday, soloing to victory on the queen Stage 8 that finished atop the Col de la Madeleine in Saint-François-Longchamp. The 33-year-old crossed the line roughly 1 minute 30 seconds ahead of Australia’s Sarah Gigante, a margin that moved her from the pack into the overall race lead with one stage remaining. Ferrand-Prévot’s attack on the 19-km, 8 % average-grade climb distanced all general-classification contenders and earned her the yellow jersey previously held by Kim Le Court. The Mauritian rider had crashed about 65 kilometres from the finish and, although she remounted, relinquished the lead on a day of heavy attrition in the Alps. Barring mishaps on Sunday’s largely flat finale to Nice, Ferrand-Prévot—already a multiple world champion across road, cyclo-cross, mountain bike and gravel—appears poised to add a first Tour de France Femmes title to her resume.
