The French national rugby team, led by coach Fabien Galthié, announced a 37-player squad for their summer tour of New Zealand, including several new additions from Toulon, Bayonne, and the Top 14 finalists such as Pierre-Louis Barassi, Nicolas Depoortère, Joshua Brennan, Pierre Bochaton, and Bastien Vergnes-Taillefer. Gaël Fickou was named captain, with Cameron Woki and Gabin Villière among the selected players. The team, featuring eight debutants in the starting lineup for the first test, faced the New Zealand All Blacks in a three-match series scheduled for July 5, 12, and 19, 2025. In the opening test in Dunedin on July 5, France, fielding a largely revamped squad without many of its stars, narrowly lost to New Zealand 31-27, a performance described as honorable and close to an upset. However, the second test in Wellington on July 12 saw a heavy defeat for France, with the All Blacks winning 43-17, scoring six tries to France's two. This marked the heaviest defeat for France under Galthié's coaching. The final test is set to take place in Hamilton on July 19.
