Brazilian actor Wagner Moura has finally received the Best Actor statuette he won at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in May for his role in Kleber Mendonça Filho’s political thriller “The Secret Agent.” French actress and Cannes jury president Juliette Binoche presented the trophy to Moura on 5 July during a sold-out open-air screening of the film at the Cinéma Paradiso Louvre Festival in Paris. Moura missed the official Cannes prize-giving six weeks earlier because he had left the festival to resume shooting another project in London. Accepting the award in front of thousands of spectators in the Cour Carrée of the Louvre, the 48-year-old actor dedicated the honor to Brazilian culture. “The Secret Agent,” which also earned Mendonça Filho the Cannes Best Director prize, will be released in the United States this autumn by Neon, with an awards campaign planned.
