At the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), actor Peter Sarsgaard received the Festival President’s Award and used the platform to address political and social divisions in the United States. Sarsgaard called for "collective action" to heal the fractures caused by differing views on politics, gender, sexuality, race, and the war, highlighting the fragmentation within American society. He remarked that his country is retreating from global responsibilities and becoming increasingly divided into factions. During the festival, Sarsgaard also discussed topics including Elon Musk’s Mars plans, his participation in a "No Kings" protest, and his new film "The Bride!", which explores the concept of the "monster in all of us." Additionally, Sarsgaard presented his hand-picked film "Shattered Glass" at the event. The festival also honored actress Vicky Krieps alongside Sarsgaard.
