Paris Saint-Germain has completed the signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille for an initial €40 million, with additional bonuses agreed, the clubs confirmed on Saturday. The 23-year-old goalkeeper signed a five-year contract that runs through June 2030. The fee makes Chevalier the most expensive French goalkeeper in history. A product of Lille’s academy, he was voted Ligue 1’s best goalkeeper last season after helping the northern club qualify for the Champions League. “I am a kid who is realizing his dream,” the player said after the deal was announced. Chevalier’s arrival intensifies competition for the No. 1 shirt at PSG, where Gianluigi Donnarumma has one year left on his contract. The move is part of a wider summer overhaul in Paris; earlier in the day the French champions also reached a €63 million agreement with Bournemouth for Ukrainian centre-back Ilya Zabarnyi.
