AFC Bournemouth has completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Premier League rival Chelsea for a fee of about £25 million (€29.5 million). The south-coast club confirmed the deal on 16 July after reaching agreement with the 25-year-old Serbian international, who has agreed to a five-year contract at the Vitality Stadium. Petrovic joined Chelsea in 2023 from New England Revolution but made only limited first-team appearances at Stamford Bridge. His performances on loan at Strasbourg last season, however, persuaded Bournemouth to make him their new first-choice keeper as manager Andoni Iraola reshapes his squad for the 2025-26 campaign. The signing represents a significant outlay for Bournemouth, whose previous record purchase was the £35 million paid for Jefferson Lerma in 2018. Petrovic becomes the latest departure from Chelsea’s squad overhaul, following this summer’s exits of several fringe players as the London club seeks to trim wages and comply with Premier League spending rules.
