Germany’s Defense Ministry said it has no information indicating that Patriot air-defense systems are currently being shipped to Ukraine, directly contradicting U.S. President Donald Trump’s assertion that deliveries are already under way from German stockpiles. Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews on 16 July that Patriots are “already being shipped” from Germany and will be back-filled under a NATO-coordinated arrangement in which Washington is repaid in full. The German spokesperson, cited by Swiss broadcaster SRF, responded on 17 July: “I cannot confirm that anything is currently on the way. That is not known to me.” Berlin said discussions with allies about supplying additional Patriot batteries to Kyiv are continuing and will be taken up at the next virtual meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on 21 July, where accelerating air-defense support is expected to be on the agenda.
