Mercedes-Benz Group reported a 9% year-on-year decline in global vehicle sales for the second quarter of 2025, delivering 547,100 cars and vans amid challenges from tariffs and model transitions. Car sales specifically fell 9% to 453,700 units, while electric vehicle sales declined 18% to 41,900 units. Vans sales dropped 10% to 93,400 vehicles, though retail sales showed regional variations with U.S. sales up 26% and Germany sales up 7%. In contrast, Porsche AG experienced a 6% decrease in global sales during the first half of 2025, delivering 146,391 vehicles. The decline was driven primarily by a 28% plunge in China sales and a slowdown in the U.S. market, despite a 14.5% increase in electric vehicle deliveries, which accounted for 36% of total sales. Audi's total sales fell 5.9% in the first half of 2025 to 783,531 vehicles. Volkswagen's core brand reported a 14.3% increase in electric car sales globally to approximately 193,000 vehicles in the first half of 2025, with overall second-quarter deliveries rising 1.2% to 2.27 million units. Volkswagen also surpassed Tesla in electric car registrations in Europe. These figures reflect the ongoing impact of tariffs and market fluctuations on German automakers, with electric vehicle segments showing mixed performance across brands.
