Greek authorities have arrested the ex-wife of University of California, Berkeley marketing professor Przemyslaw Jeziorski and four alleged accomplices in connection with his fatal shooting in Athens earlier this month, according to police statements and local media reports. The 43-year-old ex-spouse, her 35-year-old partner—believed to be the gunman—and three other men from Albania and Bulgaria were detained on 16 July and appeared before a prosecutor the following morning. Investigators say phone records, surveillance footage and two reported confessions point to the ex-wife as the mastermind of the attack. Jeziorski, 43, was killed on 4 July outside his former wife’s home in the northern suburb of Agia Paraskevi while arriving to see the couple’s two children. A masked assailant fired at least five shots at close range; police recovered seven 9 mm shell casings at the scene. Authorities believe the killing stemmed from a dispute over child custody and shared business interests in the United States. The suspects are being held on charges that include premeditated murder and criminal conspiracy as the investigation continues. Jeziorski, a Polish-born economist, spent 13 years on the faculty of UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where he taught data analytics to more than 1,500 graduate students. The university said it is cooperating with the family and expressed confidence that Greek investigators will “ensure justice is served.”
