The Nashville Predators opened the 2025 NHL Draft by aggressively reshaping their board, executing two trades that shifted first- and second-round positioning for three clubs. In the first round, Nashville advanced two spots by sending picks 23 and 67 to the Ottawa Senators for the No. 21 overall choice, giving Ottawa an extra third-round asset while securing the Predators a higher selection. The Predators then dealt their second-round pick, No. 55, to the Vegas Golden Knights for Nos. 58 and 122. Vegas immediately used No. 55 to select 6-foot-2 Swedish winger Jakob Ihs Wozniak. Vegas stayed active by acquiring No. 85 from the Pittsburgh Penguins for picks 91 and 154 and used the slot to draft centre Mateo Nobert of the QMJHL’s Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. The string of transactions leaves Nashville with an additional fourth-round pick and Vegas with two remaining selections in the sixth round.
Golden Knights send 91 and 154 to Pittsburgh to select Nobert. So, they're not drafting until No. 186 in the sixth round. Go get some lunch, take a nap, maybe.
VGK traded #91 and #154 for pick #85 in which they selected Mateo Nobert. VGK now have just two selections left, back-to-back picks in the 6th round (186 and 187).
The Golden Knights trade up yet again, this time to take center Mateo Nobert with the 85th overall pick.
