Delhi Police’s South-West district cyber unit arrested a 21-year-old man on 2 July after he allegedly created multiple fake Instagram accounts and used artificial-intelligence tools to generate sexually explicit images of a former girlfriend. The complainant, a college student, had approached police on 16 June, reporting that doctored pictures of her were being circulated on the platform. Investigators said the accused opened new, unverified accounts daily to avoid detection and targeted the woman’s followers with the explicit content. A smartphone believed to have been used to create and upload the images was recovered. The suspect has been booked under Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further digital forensics are under way to determine whether additional victims were targeted.
