India and the United States are set to formalize a 10-year defense framework to enhance their strategic and defense partnership. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have engaged in multiple discussions, including telephonic talks and meetings in Washington, DC, focusing on expanding cooperation in defense industry collaboration, training, military exchanges, and capacity building. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also met with Hegseth at the Pentagon, highlighting the India-US defense partnership as a 'consequential pillar' of bilateral relations and emphasizing growing convergences in interests, capabilities, and responsibilities. The framework aims to deepen long-term cooperation and is expected to be signed during the next meeting of the defense ministers later this year, according to Pentagon statements.
