Indian Railways has announced a comprehensive safety enhancement initiative involving the installation of CCTV cameras across its fleet. The plan includes fitting four high-quality CCTV cameras in each of the 74,000 passenger coaches and six cameras in each of the 15,000 locomotives. These cameras will be installed near the doors to improve passenger security. The progress of this initiative has been reviewed by Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and State Minister Ravneet Bittu. This move aims to provide enhanced surveillance and safety for passengers traveling on Indian Railways.
