India’s Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a package of projects aimed at expanding rail connectivity in Bihar, including the launch of four Amrit Bharat train services linking Patna with Delhi, Darbhanga with Lucknow, Malda with Lucknow and Saharsa with Amritsar. Speaking at public events in Patna and Samastipur, Vaishnaw said the state’s annual railway allocation has risen nine-fold since 2014 to roughly ₹10,000 crore. He cited the completion of the 111-kilometre Araria–Ghagaria line and the doubling of the Samastipur–Darbhanga section as evidence of faster project execution. Nationwide, the minister said Indian Railways has laid more than 33,000 kilometres of new track over the past 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. The latest initiatives in Bihar are intended to reduce travel times, improve freight movement and support economic development across eastern India.
