Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy unveiled a statue of the late Konijeti Rosaiah, former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, at Lakdikapool in Hyderabad on 4 July, the leader’s birth anniversary. Senior party figures, including AICC general secretary K. C. Venugopal and state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, attended the ceremony, which was preceded by heightened police deployment around the Telangana Congress headquarters at Gandhi Bhavan. Rosaiah, remembered by colleagues as a Gandhian who embodied Congress ideology, led Andhra Pradesh from 2009 to 2010 after years in key ministerial posts. Friday’s tribute marked the party’s first major commemoration of the veteran politician since Telangana and Andhra Pradesh separated in 2014.
