Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi resumed their nationwide organisational outreach with two high-profile state visits in less than a week. On 11 July the pair addressed party workers in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, after holding a Political Affairs Committee meeting at the state headquarters. Odisha Congress chief Bhakta Charan Das said preparations were under way to mobilise “lakhs” of supporters for Gandhi’s public rally in the city. The leadership duo flew to Guwahati, Assam, on 16 July for another full day of engagements, including meetings with the state Political Affairs Committee, Pradesh Congress Committee office-bearers, and legislators, followed by an interaction with grassroots workers in Chaygaon. The trips are part of the party’s effort to energise regional units and sharpen its strategy after the recent national elections.
