Between June and July 2025, multiple coordinated joint operations by Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Assam Rifles, and the Indian Army led to the recovery of large caches of illegal arms, ammunition, explosives, and warlike stores across various districts in Manipur. On the night of June 13-14, security forces seized 328 weapons, including 151 SLR rifles, 65 INSAS rifles, 73 other rifles, 5 carbine guns, 2 MP-5 guns, along with 9,300 rounds of ammunition and explosives, from the outskirts of five valley districts: Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur. Subsequent operations between July 3-4 in the hill districts such as Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Churachandpur resulted in the recovery of 203 weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, and other warlike materials. Further raids on July 15 across five valley districts yielded 86 weapons and 974 rounds of ammunition, including grenades, IEDs, AK-series and INSAS rifles, pistols, anti-riot guns, and SBBL firearms. These intelligence-led crackdowns are part of ongoing efforts by security forces to curb illegal arms circulation and enhance regional security in Manipur.
