Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences over a car accident that killed five people in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, according to an official statement from his office and the Press Information Bureau. Modi approved an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the families of each person who died and Rs 50,000 for every injured survivor. The Prime Minister said he was ‘deeply saddened’ by the loss of life and wished the injured a swift recovery.
